Films
The main showcase of Nordisk Panorama is the Nordic Competition Programme which consists of the best new short films and documentaries from the five Nordic countries. The programme presents a selection of 50 – 60 films, the majority of which will be shown to an international audience for the first time. The films compete in two categories:
1) Short films – animation, fiction and experimental films with a maximum duration of 60 minutes compete for the Nordic Short Film Award.
2) Documentary films – short documentaries as well as feature length films compete for the Nordic Documentary Award. Both awards are presented by expert juries.
Selections for Competition Programme
The Selection Committee has chosen contenders for Competition Programme. This year a record-breaking 565 films were registered for the competition, from which 63 films were chosen to compete for the festival’s main prizes.
There are 42 films in the Nordic Short Film Competition and 21 films in the Nordic Documentary Film Competition.
Also - for the first time ever - 15 movies were selected to compete for the New Nordic Voices -award. This new, annual competition programme’s purpose is to introduce promising Nordic filmmakers.
The qualifications for this competition are that the selected film is among the filmmakers first and the filmmakers works have never been screened in Nordisk Panorama’s competition before.
Getting in this category does not exclude films from the main competitions. The award is 3000 euros and is sponsored by The Nordic Regional Film Funds.
This year there will also be another new prize category in the Nordisk Panorama, the Neo Arena Award. The prize is given to a short film that is best suited for multi-channel distribution. The prize is 2000 euros, which consists of purchase of the films sole rights for Neo Arena internet-television broadcasting in the internet and mobile networks until the end of the year 2007.
The winner is chosen from all the films that are selected in the competition programme and whose running time is not more than 10 minutes. Those who have already given their films sole rights to a third party, can not participate in this category.
The screening copies should be sent to the festival office no later than 5th September. We accept 35 mm, Digibeta or Betacam format. Competition copies are returned to the applicant within two weeks of the
closing date of the festival.
The competition copies are sent either by courier to the following address:
