Profile
Nordisk Panorama - the number one short & documentary film festival of the Nordic countries
Nordisk Panorama - 5 Cities Film Festival, is the largest annual short and documentary film festival in the Nordic Countries, and in 2007 will be held in Oulu, Finland. The festival rotates in the Nordic countries and changes host annually. This year is the 18th time for the festival and second time for Oulu to host it – the latter time being in the Autumn of 2002. The four other hosts are Bergen in Norway, Århus in Denmark, Malmö in Sweden and Reykjavik in Iceland.
Nordisk Panorama is arranged by Filmkontakt Nord (FkN) and a local partner in each of the five Nordic Countries. This year POEM Foundation is the local partner for the festival.
Nordisk Panorama differs from many other filmfestivals because it is created and administrated by the filmmakers themselves to their peers. The aim of the festival is to reach the big audiences for short and documentary films. The festival is also an open forum for discussion, development and networking for professionals and the audience alike.
The festival also emphasises the promotion of filmmakers. As a parallel activity to the festival Filmkontakt Nord organizes Nordisk Forum for co-financing of documentaries. Nordisk Panorama Market is arranged during the festival to market Nordic films for international buyers and distributors.
A number of internationally well-known Nordic directors have made their debut at Nordisk Panorama. The festival offers an unique opportunity to take the pulse of the Nordic Scene - to be among the first to see new films by proven talents and to discover new potential.
The festival will be visible also in the other host cities in a form of a touring Mini-Panorama, which showcases a selection of films from the Competition Programme.
