This year a record-breaking 565 films were registered for the competition, from which 62 films were chosen to compete for the festival’s main prizes. There are 42 films in the Nordic Short Film Competition and 21 films in the Nordic Documentary Film Competition. Both of the awards are 6500 euros. The short film award is sponsored by YLE (Finnish Broadcsting Company) Yhteistuotannot and the documentary award by FST (Finlands Svenska Television).

Also - for the first time ever - 15 movies were selected to compete for the New Nordic Voices -award. This new, annual competition programme’s purpose is to introduce promising Nordic filmmakers. The award is 3000 euros and is sponsored by The Nordic Regional Film Funds.

Also The SF Nordic Talent Award will be given to the director of jury’s choice, based on a short fiction film or animation shown in competition at Nordisk Panorama. The award is worth 10 000 euros, and it goes towards development and possible production of a new project with SF Film. Canal+ Award is given to one of the films in the short film competition, selected by Canal+ representatives, and consists of purchase of the film for Canal+ broadcasting.

This year there will be a new prize category in the Nordisk Panorama, the Neo Arena Award. The prize is given to a short film that is best suited for multi-channel distribution. The prize is 2000 euros, which consists of purchase of the films sole rights for Neo Arena internet-television broadcasting in the internet and mobile networks until the end of the year 2007.

By last evening Nordisk Panorama’s film screenings have been seen by 1647 filmgoers. The audience attendance for the whole festival will be published after the last show which is tomorrow at Finnkino Rio where the awarded films will be shown. The first slot from 1 pm to 3 pm will consist of the short film winner and the New Nordic Voices –winner. The second slot from 3 pm to 5 pm is for the winner of the documentary competition.
