Norwegian and Swedish films triumphed at Nordisk Panorama

The largest Nordic short and documentary film festival Nordisk Panorama climaxed in tuesday night's Award Ceremony.

The Winner of the Nordic Documentary Competition was Norwegian Line Halvorsen for her film USA vs Al-Arian. The jury said that the film shows precisely how a common man becomes a victim of the situation in the contemporary world, where the Big Brother is watching you even when you're ordering pizza. According to jurors the film combines all the elements any documentary needs: a powerful story, strong characters and an emotional journey well crafted together.

The Documentary Honorary Mentions went to Finnish director Oliwia Tonteri for her document Lilli and Norwegian director Hanne Myren for her document Girls (Jenter).

The Short film honorary mentions went to Iceland and Sweden for Grimur Hákonarson's Wrestling (Bræðrabylta) and Patrik Eklund's Situation Frank.

Also - for the first time ever - 15 movies were selected to compete for the New Nordic Voices -award.
