Animake Workshop:

The Future of Animation Co-production

Time: Tuesday 25 September
Place: Finnkino Plaza 4

It certainly takes a lot of testing to develop a new animation product. Still R&D is a crucial part of the activities in many Finnish animation studios. Often the innovations in one studio advance the animation field as a whole. The Animation Key project, ANIMAKE wants to encourage this work and is willing to subsidize test bed –production costs along these lines. The project is partially funded by ESF and administered by Media Centre Lume.

ANIMAKE are involved with Anima Vitae (a Finnish animation company) and A.Film (a Danish production company). They have developed a new 3D storyboard method for pre-production of animated feature films; the method has been used successfully with a new Finnish high-profile feature-length animation Lentäjän poika (The Way to the Stars). Some sneak material from the film is available and Antti Haikala from Anima Vitae will host a session introducing the 3D storyboard method in a way that is accessible and enjoyable for the novice as well as the expert.
