Animake Workshop:
The Future of Animation Co-production
Time: Tuesday 25 September
Venue: Finnkino Plaza 4
Antti Haikala and Irene Sparre will share their valuable know-how about the 3D animation production workflows and how to optimize methods for new international challenges. These methods could quite well compensate for the somewhat distant location of Finland not to mention the challenges European animation studios face in the global animation markets and competition. New methods have been tested in the pre-production of the Way to the Stars feature film including a 3D storyboard. The storyboard has a lot of advantages e.g. in finding and testing new camera angles and getting the proportions right from the very beginning. This test bed –production will hopefully also enable other Finnish companies to take part in future co-productions.
With his long track-record as an animator and producer in international coproductions Antti Haikala will share his insight on the new methods for effective coproductions. Working currently as head of Animation at Anima Vitae Ltd he has worked as an animator in over 100 episodes of animated tv-series. Currently he is working as the production supervisor on the animated feature film “Way to the Stars” and as the director of the animated feature film "Maaginen Kristalli" (Magical Chrystal).
Irene Sparre is the producer and one of the initiators of the TD Forum which aim is to promote the competitive level of European animation.
The bases for the method are found within the Animation Key project, ANIMAKE which wants to encourage this work and is willing to subsidize test bed –production costs along these lines. The project is partially funded by ESF and administered by Media Centre Lume.
