Speakers: Sydney Neter, SND Films (Netherlands), Charlotta Bjuvman, Telepicture Marketing (UK), Ivo de Sanctis, Village srl. (Italy)
Naturally you can’t compare the commercial markets for short and feature films, but if you say there is no market to produce for, you don’t have the films to get out there! Nordic shorts may very well have a greater audience abroad than at home. In this context it’s useful to have a clear picture of the global commercial market for short films. Where is the market? What are the trends? Who are the buyers and what kind of shorts do they like? Get wiser when this panel of experienced sales agents share their knowledge.

Shorts on TV? Of Course…: SVT in the spotlight

Speaker: Ulla Nilsson, Commissioning Editor (Sweden)
On most TV channels, short films have a hard time competing with all sorts of commercials and trailers taking up more and more air time. That the Swedish “Novellfilmer” have succeeded in claiming their slot on TV is a fact, but besides these also shorter shorts are regularly shown on Swedish television. Ulla Nilsson, commissioning editor for short film at SVT, outlines the life of the short film in the channel’s overall programming and explains why it still has a life here in spite of its otherwise sparse presence at the Nordic TV channels in general.
